Tang Dynasty Horse & Rider



Chinese Tang Dynasty painted pottery figure of a bearded foreigner, riding finely molded horse, finely detailed head, pricked ears, turned downward and facing to the right, standing four-square on plinth, figure has sharply defined facial features, wearing a beard, possibly a Sogdian groom from Central Asia. The results of the Oxford Authentication Ltd. Thermoluminescence test No. C104u48 C205c5 is consistent with the dating of this piece.
